Chapter 560
After an unforeseen encounter with Frederick and Sebastian's gambling fortune, Alicia was beyond furious. She remained at home for three days straight without stepping out of her room due to the ruckus.
At this moment, Nicholas walked into her room with a plate of fruits and found her. She was lying on the bed with a pillow in her arms. She was as miserable as a withered eggplant. For her to be in a state like this was a rare circumstance.
He shook his head while he walked to the bedside. He rolled his eyes and said to her, "I assume you haven't washed your face or hair for a few days? Are you posing as a beggar?"
After poking her head, he gazed at his own finger while he grinned and said, "You could even fry an egg with this much grease on your forehead! Weren't you the clean freak in our family? Your room is a total mess!"
"Nicholas, you're so annoying, why can't you just leave me alone?!" Wasn't she allowed to be herself at home?
As soon as she said that, she pulled out a tissue and dabbed her face with it. The clear grease stains on the tissue made her frown.
As expected, she couldn't afford to be lazy anymore. How did her face end up like this merely after a day without washing it?
Alicia found it unbearable, so she stood up immediately and threw the pillow at Nicholas before she rushed into the bathroom. She washed her face carefully and applied some toner. Only then did she feel more comfortable once she was done.
Shortly, she headed back to her bed and snatched the pillow back from her brother before she slothfully lied down.
"It's only your first time meeting him, yet you're already this listless. How are you going to survive the next few days?"
She instantly sat up straight. "I'm not grumpy because of Frederick! It's solely because that scumbag won a fortune through gambling!"
Unknowingly, she spoke with a loud voice as she scratched her slightly messy hair in a vexatious manner.
She turned around and sat on the edge of the bed. Right then, Nicholas stroked her hair gently and said,Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
"Are you sure you're not lying to yourself? If it's purely because of that scumbag, then you would've enthusiastically thought of a solution by now. You definitely wouldn't be hiding in your room like a mole right now, plus it's been three days since you left the house!"
Alicia was embarrassed that he had completely figured her out. She shouted, "Nicholas!"
"Come on, I'm your brother, so you know it's not a big deal to me. Why are you so emotional right now?" He said with a soft tone while he calmly stroked her hair.
"Ally, it's impossible to hide forever! Eventually, you'll have to face the truth. With Frederick's connection, it's not hard for him to discover the truth about you if he really wanted to. He might not figure it out within a day, but who could say he wouldn't within a month's time? It's similar to Sebastian's case too; you can't keep him in the front line forever. If he figures out that something is wrong, all your efforts will be in vain! For the moment, Frederick would most likely leave you alone because it'll only make things more complicated if he approaches you again. Besides, it would only raise Sebastian's suspicions if he did. You have to understand, there are quite a number of people who are aware of your past relationship with Frederick." After listening to him, Alicia instantly came to her senses and said, "Nicholas, do you mean..."
No doubt, if she had gotten involved with Frederick any further, then Sebastian would've found out sooner or later. This was because Frederick had been constantly monitored.
"You should find a suitable opportunity to meet Frederick and get to the bottom of his behavior! You can't keep hiding your identity from him. Besides, he's already engaged. However he behaves or what feelings he has for you aren't important. I assure you that he won't refuse to help you even if it's to delay the concert! Furthermore, it'll take us too long and cost us too much to make some connections and buy a passage into the casino. It'll be in our best interests if he's willing to help us."
"Nicholas, are you saying that Frederick and I should..."
No matter if it was an empty promise or a broken bond, Alicia was still repulsed from the bottom of her heart! She despised the idea of being a mistress and she didn't want this to ruin her reputation!
"Silly girl! You're legally married to him!" He pinched her nose as he spoke.
"Even if he's currently engaged to another woman, you're still officially his first wife. Besides, you're not legitimately divorced from him.
Legally or emotionally, you hai
every right to leave him or return to
him. Thus, get up and do the right thing!"
Frankly, Frederick should've been the one who was troubled over this matter!
Alicia pursed her lips and blinked as she remained silent.
Knowing that she had paid attention, Nicholas took her arm. "Ally, everything's alright. Hurry up and go change into something else, I'm taking you out for some fresh air and dinner. Let's go to Heaven Star Clubhouse tonight!"
"Nicholas, do you not have any compassion for me? Are you expecting me to dance at a time like this? I'm not in the mood for it, I'm not going! You don't care about me at all."
She complained like a spoiled child at that moment.
"I'm bringing you out because I love you. Don't be lazy, let's go! With your current appearance, not only men, even every woman would have the shock of their lives by a single glance at you! Hurry up and go change!
After pulling her up, he pushed her into the bathroom once again.
That evening, Nicholas intentionally brought Alicia out for a fancy dinner. Coincidentally at that moment, he chose to dine at Fortune Seafood Restaurant, which was the restaurant where she had previously tailed Frederick to!
At their dining table, a well-noted crab dish was served to them. She stared at the dish and she seemingly couldn't take her eyes off it. Although it wasn't the peak season for seafood, to them, it was still a good time to eat crabs. Nicholas peeled off some pieces of crab meat with a crab plier before handing it to her.
"What's the matter? I thought you wanted seafood for dinner? Well, here it is! There's so much crab meat over here, so just dig in!"
After taking a few bites, a warm smile appeared on Alicia's face while some tears rolled down onto her lips. "If you ever get married in the future, would you still peel crab meat for me?"
"Don't be silly! You have a husband already. Do you really still need me to peel it for you?"
As soon as he said that, he then peeled off a few more pieces of crab meat and gave it to her, while the remaining ones were placed on his own plate.
She giggled and her eyes were filled with happiness. "Hmph! So you're choosing her over me!"
After their delightful meal, the both of them drove over to Heaven Star Clubhouse. On the way, a sudden thought flashed across her mind.
"Oh right, I almost forgot. Nicholas, there's actually something we could do here! Sebastian is superstitious and he loves to seduce ladies. He may not fall for our scheme that
easily, but if we were to give himet
some pointers, then he'll definitely lower his guard. In time, we can slowly get rid of those shameless things he's been doing! To put it bluntly, he's a man who picks on the weak and fears the strong ones, he
would even take advantage of whatever he could. It's not that he
dislikes beauty, instead he values
fame and wealth more than it....."
Nicholas glanced at her and said, "I know what to do. I'll inform them of the change of plans!"
In front of the red lights, he picked
up his mobile phone right when it lit
up. "Mr. Nick, I just received the news regarding Mr. Clements. He just left his place with a bunch of his subordinates by his side. Judging by the route, they should be heading towards Heaven Star Clubhouse!"
"I understand. I'll deal with it! You don't have to do anything else, so don't go bothering anyone!"
As soon as he hung up the phone, Nicholas then took a turn to the other side of the intersection near Heaven Star Clubhouse...
