Chapter 216
Chapter 216
Frederick squinted at Alicia. Obviously, something was bothering her as her expression was unnatural. She seemed to be making choices in her mind.
Alicia started to beg Frederick coquettishly, even pulling and tagging him. She even tried to cover his eyes with her hands.
"Hubby, I could cover your face if you feel embarrassed to carry me. Nobody will recognize you. Could you carry me to the pharmacy, please? The last time you carried me all the way to the hospital, I was already unconscious. I couldn't remember any of your 'love'. Could you do it again so that I could embed this important moment in my memory?" Alicia begged while pulling him gently on the arm.
Leaning against him defiantly, Frederick could see her ravishing look. Under the moonlight, her beauty was as picturesque as a painting. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Alicia was so good at convincing. Clearly, she was talking her way in to get Frederick to carry her and she managed to persuade him. She even made him feel over the moon listening to her words. Frederick raised his hand and pinched her on the cheeks.
"So in your words, carrying you would be an act of love. Wouldn't that make not carrying you an act of hatred?"
Who was she deceiving? Since she was also covering his eyes, the onlookers would definitely think they are a bunch of weird people. Plus, wouldn't they stick out like a sore thumb?
Her fallacies were always so refreshing to Frederick. That mouth of hers was like a rose; tempting but with thorns. Her words could be as alluring as honey sometimes while other times, they could provoke one's anger like a volcano eruption.
"Tee-hee! Thank you, Hubby!"
With her sweet voice, Alicia took the initiative to kiss him on the cheek and whisper to Frederick, "Just carry me once, please?"
While getting convinced by Alicia, a scene caught Frederick's eyes. Frederick saw a couple across the road. It was a thin man who was carrying a girl on his back. The woman was obviously larger in size than the man. The man seemed tired of carrying her but every two steps he took, they were giggling. It was a warm scene to watch.
Perhaps, this is love in its most pleasing state! Frederick thought.
Seeing the couple across the road, Frederick felt there wasn't any reason for him not to carry his own wife on his back. Not to mention that Alicia was slimmer than the woman across the road. The man across the street even tried his best even though he could barely carry the woman on his back.
Suddenly, Frederick crouched and said, "Hop on!"
"Yeah! You are the best, Hubby!"
With her successful persuasion, Alicia felt delighted. She kissed Frederick on the cheeks twice before making her way to his back.
"Am I heavy, Hubby?"
At first, Frederick thought that he would feel uncomfortable. But, he actually felt warmed by Alicia; her soft body leaning on him, the sound of her breath around his ears, and her faint fragrance. This feeling was like being accompanied by someone on the road at night. No matter how long the journey was, he would never feel lonely or discouraged.
"Well, it feels like a tiny mountain is pressing on me!" Frederick replied.
Frederick turned his head and glanced at her. His raspy voice became incredibly sexy at that moment. "But, I can endure a little more weight!"
"Tee-hee!"
Frederick's words amused Alicia. She rested her head on his shoulder and swung her feet lightly from time to time while admiring her new shoes. Words were not needed at the moment, and Alicia stayed silent and enjoyed the moment for the next 10-meter distance. She felt extremely blessed at that moment.
"Hubby, I wish..." I wished that you could carry me on your back forever and we could always be as happy as we were now! Alicia secretly thought so.
Before she continued speaking, Alicia suddenly realized that she was being greedy. Shocked by her own thoughts, she stuttered.
"What's the matter? What are you trying to say? Finish the sentence."
Frederick slowed down unconsciously. Upon arriving at the pharmacy, Alicia jumped down. She even helped him to tidy up his clothes. Then, she shook her head slightly and replied to Frederick's question.
"No, I just feel... so happy!" She was hoping that time would stop for her.
Alicia stopped the conversation. She was scared that her expectation would become a disappointment if she were too greedy. She was also afraid of ruining this wonderful moment.
Frederick actually felt the same way. He stroked her hair gently and said, "Silly girl! You're too easily satisfied."
"Now wait here, I'll go in and get some band-aids for you!" Frederick continued.
Looking at Frederick's tall figure, Alicia held on to his blazer tightly and her face was beaming with joyful smiles. Meanwhile, Jeremy was looking at them from the store behind. His eyes were dull and his face was pale. He was thinking of all the moments with Alicia; how she convinced him to carry her on his back, how she was picking on him. Her voice started to echo in Jeremy's mind
"Jeremy, carry me, please? I can't walk anymore..."
"I'm so happy! Jeremy, can you carry me for the rest of my life?"
"I like your back. I like my time with you too. I like how you are carrying me right now... You are only allowed to carry me and I will only let you carry me. We'll stick together like this forever!" "Jeremy, come and chase me! Quick, quick!"
"Don't touch me there! It tickles!"
Suddenly, countless voices were lingering in Jeremy's head. He felt that his head was about to explode and he was so hopeless. He felt depressed.
After buying some band- aids and other medical items, Frederick walked out of the pharmacy. Alicia amused him as she literally stood there obediently and did not move at all.
She was adorable when she behaved.
Frederick crouched down. Then, he applied the band-aid on both Alicia's injured ankle. He stood up and asked, "Does it feel better?"
Alicia tapped her feet lightly. "Yeah! It doesn't hurt anymore!" she replied while shaking her head.
Alicia lowered her head and raised her leg. She looked at the shoes again and again. She even gently patted the fur attached to get it fluffy again. Looking at her series of actions, Frederick rolled his eyes.
"I don't get how you're still willing to wear such uncomfortable shoes. I don't even know why you insisted on keeping them!" The shoes were just punishment to Alicia's feet.
"Well, you spent a lot of money on them. Besides, they are adorable! My mood gets better just by looking at it. Plus, you have to try it before you know whether the shoes fit. We should always give everything a try, right?" Alicia replied.
Even though the shoes were pinching her feet, Alicia still felt comfortable wearing them.
Her words inspired Frederick to think about their marriage. "Are you saying the shoes resemble a marriage?"
Of course!
In the beginning, Frederick never thought that he would have such an intimate relationship with Alicia. Even though they were married, it was just a show to him. One reason was that she was pregnant at that time and another reason was his grandmother.
Deep down, Frederick disliked Alicia. That feeling was definitely hatred. Never in a second, he would like her at that moment
But, because of Alicia, Frederick changed himself and abandoned the life he had planned for himself.
At present, their relationship was getting better. They were getting along on everything and Frederick was satisfied with his current life.
Alicia looked at her shoes from time to time. From her happy expression, Frederick knew that she really liked the shoes. Suddenly, the shoes weren't as ugly as he thought.
"It's getting late. Let's go home," Frederick said while putting his arms on her shoulder.
"Okay!"
Along the way back to their car, they were giggling happily. During the ride, Alicia was talking non- stop. She couldn't stop chattering the whole ride. She didn't even notice that her cell phone was flashing from incoming messages.
