Back in Time: Unshackling From Love (Mikayla Davidson)

Chapter 219

Chapter 219

Jerome was acting seemingly casual. But his actions were clearly filled with affection toward Mikayla.

She suppressed her emotions and walked toward them as they were joking and laughing. “Jerome, Ms. Miller, Mr. Barnes. Do you mind if I join you?”

Mikayla looked at her, who was dressed casually and only had little make up. She looked a little pale.

Mikayla decided to ignore her.

Connor spoke up. “Ms. White, I’m sorry. But Mikayla’s friend is also here. Your presence might make her

feel uncomfortable.”

Kylie looked at her and said, “So you’re Mrs. Miller’s friend. I was busy earlier but I should’ve greeted you sooner. My apologies.”

Although Celeste had never met Kylie, she could guess her identity from her expression and Mikayla’s

reaction.

“Ms. White? So you’re Mr. Miller’s subordinate. Isn’t it a little funny? You called Mikayla Mrs. Miller, but you

address Mr. Miller directly? Celeste commented.

Mikayla knew that Celeste’s words would upset Jerome, but she couldn’t be bothered and had no

intention of stopping Celeste.

“Ms. Reign, you must be unaware. Ms. White and Jerome have known each other since they were teenagers. They’re as close as family. It’s just a habit to address each other this way,” Connor explained.

Kylie’s expression remained the same.

“Ms. Reign is right. It was my fault. I’ll pay more attention to it next time,” she said

“Mr. Miller, are you free now? I have an urgent matter to update you.” Kylie looked at Jerome.

Noticing Kylie’s fatigue expression, he knew the reason for her recent workload. He didi

Instead, he said, “Have a seat. You can update me as you eat.”

Irive her away.

Kylie glanced at Mikayla and shook her head. “No, I’ll just stand and update you. I’ll leave you alone after. I’m done. I’m sorry for interrupting your meal.”

“If you’re truly sorry, you shouldn’t have come in the first place.” Mikayla felt annoyed when she looked at Kylie.

She said to Celeste, “Let’s sit over there. It’s quieter,”

“Sure!” Celeste got up.

Jerome glanced at Mikayla, but she didn’t even look at him before sitting with Celeste at the other table.

Connor hesitated for a moment, then got up too. “Jerome, I’ll leave you alone with Ms. White. You know I can’t stand listening to all of these things.”

Seeing there was no objection from Jerome, Connor hurried over to where Mikayla and Celeste were sitting.

Only after the three of them had left did Kylie apologize to Jerome, “I’m sorry for Interrupting you at such. an inappropriate time.” Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

Jerome didn’t blame her. “It’s fine. Sit down and tell me.”

Kylie’s stomach growled as soon as she sat down. She was embarrassed.

“Have you not eaten anything?” Jerome asked.

Kylle nodded. “I forgot to.”

Jerome said, “I know you want quick results, but you don’t have to push yourself so hard. You’re here to have fun. Leave your work behind for now.”

Kylie smiled gently. “I wouldn’t say I’m working too hard. I’m just doing what’s expected of me. Besides, my forehead is injured. It’s best for me to stay away from water, so I might as well work. Oh, I want to update you about the project-”

“It can wait. You should eat something first,” Jerome said.

“Okay.” Kylie rubbed her belly and picked up her fork.

Celeste felt somewhat annoyed while she watched Kylie eat.

“She’s so shameless. She didn’t even budge when she knew that none of us welcomed her there. Didn’t she say she wanted to update Jerome on her work? How come she’s eating now? Those

dishes were ours. She’s taking advantage of us!” Celeste said.

“Ms. Reign, Jerome is just being polite to Ms. White because her father had helped him before. They’re just like family,” Connor explained again.

Connor couldn’t help but feel bad for Mikayla. Why did Jerome let Kylie stay? Couldn’t he tell Mikayla was upset about her presence?

Even if it was really important work, couldn’t he ask Kylie to update him later?

The atmosphere just now was so good. Mikayla even ate the food he fed her. He could’ve won her over

with just a little more effort.

“Does she look anything like family? Celeste was still annoyed. “She’s clearly a bitch.”

Mikayla chuckled.

Indeed, Kylie was nothing close to family. In the past, Kylie had won Jerome over with her gentleness.

“No way!” Celeste stood up abruptly.

Mikayla looked at her. “What are you trying to do?”
