EPISODE 16 The pack is safe for humans
MOON STONE PACK
She wasn’t embarrassed to look into his eyes after the passionate moment with him.
Carl stood up to answer his phone that was begging for attention. Meagan sat up abruptly, wore her bra and polo. She tried to straighten her hair properly.
Julius was calling. “Hello Carl,” he heard Hazel’s voice over the phone.
“Yes.” Carl mumbled.
“I think my friend is missing. She was supposed to meet me at Julius place for breakfast but I haven’t seen and she isn’t at the guesthouse. Do you think someone took her?” Hazel rushed out her words. He could sense fear and worry in her tone.
Carl glanced at Meagan. “Relax, she probably lost her way around the pack.”
Hazel sighed. “Are you sure she is fine? I mean is she safe?” She demanded.
“Nothing will happen to your best friend. I’ll be right there with you.” He added before disconnecting the call.
“Your friend is fussing over your disappearance.” He said to her.
Meagan stood up. “I should get going.” She wondered why Hazel had called him to report about her disappearance but nothing occurred to her.
“I should come with you so-”
Meagan interrupted him. “There won’t be any need for that.. just describe the beta’s home to me. I’ll find the place.” It would be make things awkward for her if Hazel spotted them together.
“Okay.” Carl replied. He understood why she didn’t want him to follow her. He gave her a perfect direction of how to find the beta’s home.
“Thank you.” She turned towards the door but Carl was quick to catch up with her.
“Allison-” he grabbed her wrist and swirled her to face him.
She let out a shaky breathe when he caged her to his body with her hands fully resting on his chest.
“I’ll see you later right?” He mumbled.
Meagan just simply nodded her head although she hoped not to see him again. Then he let her go after removing strands of hair from her face and he pressed a quick kiss to her lips.
“Bye.” He smiled.
Meagan became confused by the sweet gesture that made her heart run a marathon and it beat three times harder. She left his house walking away as a fast as her legs could carry her. This man was slowly pulling down her resolve.
Carl watched her from the window pane as she walked away. He touched his lips remembering the passionate kiss he had shared with her. It would linger in his mind for a long time.
***************
Meagan found the beta’s house. She realized that she had passed the same house but didn’t know it was the beta’s home. She knocked and Hazel rushed to open the door.
“Meagan!” Hazel pulled her in and embraced her. “Oh my moon goddess, I was so scared!” She cried out.
“I am fine, Hazel. I just lost my way.” Meagan pulled away from the embrace.
“I knew it.” Brianna sighed.
“She is so dramatic. I hope you stop acting like our pack is not safe for humans.” Julius scolded his mate and walked out of the house.
“Is he angry?” Meagan asked.
“Not really.. he is just pissed that his bride kept him waiting. He has so much work to do for the alpha.” Brianna answered as she sat on the couch.
“I am sorry. I tried your lines when I lost my way but they were switched off.” Meagan explained.
“Yes the power went out in the pack but it has been fixed.” Hazel replied.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
“You must be hungry.” Brianna said.
“No. no.. I am fine.” Meagan declined.
Hazel arched her eyes brows. “Yes I got food from the guest house. I placed an order for it from the kitchen.” Meagan lied.
She didn’t want to open up to her friend about the man she had met at the party last night.
“But they didn’t mention it when I called to ask of you.” Hazel itched the bridge of her nose.
“Maybe… they forgot.” Meagan stuttered.
“I’ll get us something to drink.” Hazel motioned into the kitchen.
“You left the halloween party early last night.” Brianna said.
Meagan looked up at her. “Yes, I-” she paused and looked down her body, realizing that she had left her small bag at Carl’s home.
“Are you okay?” Brianna asked.
“Yes.. Yes.. Yes.. I am fine.” She stuttered, a feigned smile on her face.
Hazel came back with a tray filled with three glasses of lemon juice. And she handed each of the girls a glass.
Meagan thought of what she would say if Hazel asked about her phone.
“Did you have a good sleep?” Hazel asked as she settled beside her best friend on the couch.
“Yes I did slept well.” Meagan sipped from the glass of lemonade.
“Last night was so fun! You should have joined us for the games.” Brianna said.
“Meagan was too tired to join the game.” Hazel replied.
“So what did you do? Because Hazel and I tried to find you.” Brianna set her glass back on the tray that sat on the glassy table.
“I just checked out costumes of peoples.” Meagan replied.
Brianna raised her eyebrows. “There is no way that would have been fun to me.”
“I enjoyed it.” Meagan mumbled. She didn’t want to tell them about how she had spent time with a warlord in a garden under the moonlight. Hazel would want to know every details about him and she might even have an information about him since he is a native of the pack.
Deep down in Meagan’s heart she was scared to find out that the warlord could be a married man whose wife was far away from the pack, an auto mechanic, a single father of three kids or even a divorcée. Different thoughts ran into her mind. Maybe she should have found out more about him.
“Did you managed to get the attention of that man?” Meagan asked trying to switch the topic.
“She got plenty of attention from men last night.” Hazel laughed.
Brianna rolled her eyes. “All?”
Hazel shrugged. “Well all except one.”
“The alpha didn’t fall for your beauty last night?” Meagan arched her eyebrows.
Brianna shook her head. “Oh yes.. I had a dance with him but he reminded me again that he doesn’t want a relationship with me.” She sighed.
“The alpha looked so handsome and hot in his warlord outfit! You should have seen him, Meagan!” Hazel set down her glass.
Meagan wondered if there are other men who had dressed as a warlord aside the one she met. It didn’t occur to Meagan that they could be talking about the same man.
“But why doesn’t he want someone like you? I mean you are brave, confident and beautiful. If you are not his type then what’s his ideal type of woman?” Meagan blurted out.
A look of disappointment crossed Brianna’s face. “I am his best friend’s younger sister.”
Meagan understood her words. “I still don’t think that should be a problem.”
