NIRVANA
“Let’s get married today.”
Shock should be forthcoming, despite the fact we talked about getting married soon. Still, the towel almost fell into my grasp. “What? Why?”
“I wanna marry you today,” he said with determination, as if getting married were just a walk in the park and then buying Boba tea.
I barked out, laughing. The shock was wearing off. “It’s not possible. We have to register and get our marriage certificate.”
“Then we’ll do it online.”
“Wow.” I was even more surprised that he wanted us to get married today and that we only had to register online.
I tightened the towel around my chest and strode towards him. “What’s the rush, baby?”
He cupped my head and kissed my lips. “I want to marry you. I mean, why wait, but I promise I will give you the grand wedding you deserve. I wanna be your husband and call you my wife.”
“Why, being your mate isn’t enough?” Teasing, I squinted my eyes.
“I want a government legal document proving you we are married. I want to wear a wedding band. I want to introduce you to the people that this amazing woman beside me is my wife.” He paused, appalled. “Wait. Are you having cold feet right now?”
“No.” I stared at him in disbelief. “The only cold I feel right now is my hands.” I cupped his face. “Feel it? I need to get dressed.”
“Why do you have all the abilities of a werewolf but the resistance to the cold weather?”
“That’s not even the point, Knight.”
“I know, or I will make love to you first before you become officially my wife.”
“No. Your dick can wait.”
He laughed, eyes shining. “Yes, ma’am.”
“Now go register ourselves online. My ID is in my wallet in the drawer. And big guy, I hope you’ll remember my birthday this time.”
“Noted, sweetheart.”

“Nirvana,” he called from the room. “We haven’t opened the book Alpha Frye gave us.”
My stomach took a nosedive. “Later, baby. Focus on the registration. Once you’re done, we have to call my grandfather and our friends.”
Thirty minutes later, Kailin banged on the door, calling out my name. “Open this door, missy.”
“You called her?” I asked him.
“Yeah.” Knight went to the door to open.
“Why are you rushing your wedding? I mean, today? No. It can’t be done today.” She widened her eyes at me. “Do you even have a dress? How about the reception and flower arrangements? Are you both nuts?” Kailin turned to me. “Are you pregnant?”
My eyes widened in shock. It felt like she just threw a cold bucket of water on my face. I had an irregular period, and since Knight and I started sleeping together, I hadn’t had my period, and that was almost three months. “No. I’m not.”
“Then, that can wait until tomorrow.”
“But we want to get married today,” Knight insisted.
“No. Vana, take his card. We’re going shopping,” she said dismissively, ignoring her alpha.
“Um.” My cheeks burned. “I have savings.”
“No. He’s richer than you, and besides, he’s too eager to tie the knot and keep you on a short leash. Come on, let’s max his card.”
“Excuse me? I want to marry my mate. That’s all.” Knight was more amused than offended, offering his credit card, but I refused to take it.
“Let’s go.” Kailin snatched it from him. “Hurry up. We don’t have much time. We will get a spa treatment, buy you a dress and shoes, and I’ll book someone to do your hair and makeup.”
Before we reached the door, she called Knight again. “And you, mister, you better call an event decorator and tell them it’s urgent and find a fine tux, cousin, or I will burn your entire wardrobe.”
I laughed as I walked out of the house with her.
“What’s the urgent?” Dane just got out of the car, confused.
“You haven’t told him?”
“About what?” Dane asked.
“Imagine an alpha and luna getting married today without anything prepared.”
“Oh, you’re getting married today?” He was even more surprised as he looked at me.
“Apparently, not today.”
“You’re driving us downtown,” said Kailin to him.
“Of course.” He opened the passenger’s door.
“No. I’m sitting next to the bride in the backseat.”
“No. I’m fine. You sit next to him.”
Thankfully, she didn’t resist. Dane drove away from the house when Knight called me on the phone.
“Hey. Getting cold feet already?”
“No fucking way. We’re getting married tomorrow.” So, no cold feet and no backing out. I was really going to get married to the man I loved.
“Then what’s this call all about?”
“Use the card, buy anything you want. Do you want me to call any friends of yours?”
“Kailin and the guys are my family and friends. Just call Grandpa and Dylan for me. Shadow and Zarah should be at my wedding. And who’s your best man?”
“Mac.”
“Good. Now let me go shopping, and don’t call me every five minutes if it’s not an emergency.”
“I love you, Nirvana. And I can’t wait to be your husband.”
“I love you, too.”
Two hours later, I felt terrible for Dane. He waited patiently for us while we were having a complete spa package.
We grabbed lunch, and then we checked out some bridal gowns.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this. I always dreamed of a beautiful wedding, but not at twenty-one. I mean, come on. I only met Knight three months ago. I don’t even know his birthday. How old is he anyway?”
Kailin held her laugh. Her face was beet red. “Seriously? You don’t know how old is he? He’s twenty-five, and he will be twenty-six in two months.”
“Okay. And it’s fair because he doesn’t know my birthday before today.” I stole a glance at Dane. “So you two look like you just hit the hay?”
When she widened her eyes at me and mouthed to shut up, I got the feeling that maybe they got to the second base.
“Is he good?”
“Shut up. I’m not talking to you about my sex life,” she whispered the last word, but werewolves had enhanced hearing, and I just saw a small smile curved up on Dane’s lips.
“Since when? We don’t keep secrets, but I get it. Things changed, and he’s yours forever. I’m just happy for both of you and for giving him a chance. He’s a good guy, K. Even Kain can vouch for him. And he’s hot.” I meant to say the last words louder.
“Shut up. Just pick a dress already. We still have a lot of things to do.”
I texted Knight.
NIRVANA: Who will shop for the ring?
KNIGHT: I’ll take care of it. Have fun. I love you.
“Knight will take care of the ring.”
“He’s loaded and can pay his people to bring everything he wants.” She showed me a pretty lacy off-shoulder gown.
“I want something simple but elegant. No raffles and laces, please?” I shook my head. “Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about, and we forgot to talk about a prenup.”
She snorted. “No prenup in our world. It’s forever. If something happens to the mate, all his assets will be given to the family members and children. So you better pop out babies soon.”
“Hey. Can I ask you something?” I gripped her wrist. “I’m human, and he’s, you know, what would our babies be?”
“He’s an alpha. His genes are more dominant than yours. I’m sure your kids will be like him, and considering your bloodline, one of them will get a gift, especially if it’s a girl.”
“Oh, my God.” I blew a breath and sat down as I felt suddenly overwhelmed. “I haven’t thought about any of this. So my kids will grow claws, fur, and fangs? And they will go through that bone-shattering transformation? And the more I have every freaking reason to end this family curse. It has to be done. I don’t want my daughter to carry that burden.”
“Precisely.”
“Oh, my God.” I started to get hyperventilated.
“Hey. Breathe.” Kailin held my arms. “Look at me. It’s going to be okay.”
“And I even wanted at least three children. Oh, no.” I stared at her. “Am I gonna be like a cat with multiple babies?”
She barked out, laughing, looking over her shoulder. “Dane, did you hear what she said?”
“Yeah.”
“I thought you read my books.”
“Not all of them. And stop laughing at my naivety.”
“My dear Vana. No. You won’t pop out as many as kittens in one pregnancy. People like us are just like you. We can have a baby, twins like me and Mac, North and West, triplets, or maybe quadruplets, but it’s rare. So you’re good.”
“Oh, thank God.” I let go of a shuddering breath.
“Don’t worry. Knight will take care of you, and the entire pack will take care of you and your pups.”
“Stop saying pups. And he better be, or I will spay myself and castrate his balls.”
Her body shook as she laughed silently. “Did you hear that, Dane? I will do the same for you if you sway your dick to other women.”
Dane chuckled. “My dick is for you only, Kailin Dahlia.”
“Aw. He knows your middle name. That’s sweet.”
