Chapter 652
Chapter 652 Give Him a Chance
James remained calm, wearing an expression of innocence as if he had not lied at all.
Vicky was infuriated by his insolent attitude. She raised her hand, ready to slap him. "James, are you playing games with me?" Before the slap could land on James, Maggie stepped in beside him, shielding him instantly.
The slap struck her shoulder with force, causing her to gasp in pain.
Seeing the situation escalate, Chloe hurriedly pulled Maggie aside.
Vicky, still fuming, glared at James.
She thought to herself, "He keeps going against me, not taking me seriously at all, just because he knows I like him."
"James, I'll never like you again!"
James casually rubbed his ear. "You've said that so many times before."
He genuinely hoped that this time, she meant it.
Vicky couldn't believe that the words she spoke from the bottom of her heart, along with the disappointment and hurt she felt, were nothing more than a joke to him. "If you don't like me, then why did you... come to the bar to find me that night?"
He did it, especially right after he had surgery.
"You clearly have feelings for me, so why don't you admit it?"
Vicky had never liked anyone else, and she only liked James.
She had liked him ever since she found out he was a soldier, and even though she thought he was insufferably annoying after meeting him, she still liked him.
But he just couldn't see that. Instead, she became the one who seemed desperate, like a hopeless admirer in front of him.
"I explained it to you that night. Your brother is my friend, and since you went to the bar because of me, I felt responsible. Besides, I don't like people who don't take their own safety seriously." James spoke the last sentence with great seriousness.
As a soldier, he had seen too many people on the battlefield who had lost limbs or even sacrificed their lives.
They were people who wouldn't give up on life until the very last moment, people who wanted to contribute as much as they could to their country, even with their lives.
Vicky knew the bar was unsafe, yet she still went out of spite.
She didn't care about her own safety at all.
He didn't like someone who was so reckless and immature.
Vicky's chest heaved with emotion, and tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.
In the end, she said nothing and turned to leave the villa.
Only after she left did James finally breathe a little easier.
On the other side of the room, Admas looked at Chloe and asked, "Chloe, have you reconnected with the Miller family?"
Chloe was surprised that Admas knew about her connection to the Miller family, but then she realized it for the

She smiled and nodded. "Yes, Sir Shawn. We had dinner together the other day."
Admas nodded thoughtfully. "Oh, I see... Did they mention anything about the Shawn family?"
Chloe was taken aback. "Does the Miller family have some kind of connection with the Shawn family?" Admas saw his opportunity.
"Yes, the Shawn family and the Miller family have been close friends for decades. We know each other well even talked to Russell about arranging a marriage between our families back in the day. Isn't it fate? You and Michael would make a perfect match."
Chloe felt a bit awkward, but before she could respond, James chimed in, "Sir Shawn, Chloe and your grandson are no longer together." Admas' smile froze as he shot a look at James.

Michael rekindled their rex.chip."
As soon as Michael heard this, he quickly walked over to help Admas upstairs. "Grandpa, that's enough. Don't bring this up anymore."
He didn't want Chloe to feel pressured.
During their days in Mamaica, he hadn't asked Chloe again if she was willing to give him another chance.
He thought, "If I do well enough, Chloe will surely notice, and then she might choose to give me another chance on her own.
If I keep pressuring her, it'll just backfire."
Admas, filled with anger as Michael pulled him upstairs, raised his cane, and struck Michael on the back.
"Look at you! If I hadn't come, how much longer would it have taken you to win Chloe back?"
