Chapter 838
Chapter 838
In the entertainment industry, acting skills were highly valued. Many actors and actresses spend years
honing their craft in order to deliver convincing performances on screen or stage. However, there are
some individuals who seem to possess a natural talent for acting that sets them apart from the rest.
One such person was currently being praised by his colleagues for his incredible acting skills. "You
were amazing in that scene!" one of them exclaimed. "I couldn't even tell you were acting!"
The actor in question smiled modestly, but inwardly he was thrilled with the compliment. He had always
loved performing and had worked hard to develop his abilities over the years.
As he walked off set, he couldn't help but reflect on how far he had come since his early days as an
aspiring actor. Back then, he had struggled to find work and often felt discouraged by rejection after
rejection.
But now, with several successful roles under his belt and a growing fan base, he knew that all of his
hard work had paid off.
He vowed to continue pushing himself as an actor and never become complacent with his abilities.
After all, it was only through constant practice and dedication that one could truly master any skill -
including the art of acting.
"But the fans won't accept it. They will strike back..." Poppy stared at Eden dreamily, her eyes filled with
worry.
What does a top star's official announcement represent? Everyone present knew that.
Eden looked at her gently and indulgently, "I think we should just let things happen naturally. People
have to learn to grow up eventually. Getting married and having children are natural things, and I'm
grateful for their support all these years. But... I'll also grow old, mature, and start a family!"
"I'm not just a celebrity or an idol; I'm also a man who wants to love and cherish a woman, someone
who wants to have children."
He was telling Poppy not to worry because he was serious about her; he wasn't just playing around or
trying to ease his loneliness.
Since he chose to be with her, he wanted to walk down this path together.
Audrina glared jealously at the couple in front of her; she felt like she couldn't breathe.
She had carefully crafted this "bathrobe scandal," but never imagined that it would lead Eden into
confessing his feelings for Poppy and holding hands with her successfully.
She was basically acting as their relationship catalyst behind the scenes - like an undercover All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
matchmaker!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became until Audrina wanted nothing more than slap
Poppy across the face.
Why did everything good in life seem reserved only for Poppy? She had such great siblings-in-law,
came from such an excellent background - now even dating one of the most popular men in showbiz!
Why did Eden choose Poppy over herself when Audrina knew she looked better than her? It must be
because of Poppy's family background or connections through Franklin and Sylvia.
Audrina was fuming with anger.
Not only had she concocted this "bathrobe scandal," but also orchestrated this "ramen support"
scheme too! She kept reassuring herself that their official announcement would surely fail someday
soon; ticket sales would drop drastically, then how could they continue working within showbiz?
Thinking about all these things made Audrina feel much better inside - especially knowing that if caught
by authorities over illegal fundraising activities related ramen supports, even though it amounted only
$50k, there is still chance for them sending innocent-looking Poppy straight into jail!
She looked around and saw Sylvia and Franklin calmly offering their congratulations.
"I hope you two have a sweet and loving relationship. When you're ready to get married, your brother
and I will prepare your dowry," Sylvia said.
Franklin nodded in agreement. "Don't do anything that would hurt her or I'll not only beat you up but
also your brother."
Logan rolled his eyes. What did he care if his little brother was dating someone?
Eden scratched his head awkwardly. "Don't worry, I'll take good care of Poppy."
It took Poppy a moment to realize that she was actually with Eden now.
"Sylvia , don't blame us if our movies don't do well."
"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing," Sylvia replied with a smile as she turned to Honey. "I've seen the
footage already and you did great."
Honey blushed at the compliment. "Really?"
"Do you think I'd lie to you?" Sylvia's gaze drifted over the crowd until it landed on Audrina. "You were
good too, but I wonder... are you really willing to go above and beyond for your friends like in the
movies?"
Audrina swallowed nervously as she felt like Sylvia could see right through her facade.
Suppressing her racing heart, Audrina forced herself to laugh nervously as though she were anxious
about something else entirely."Of course! Poppy is one of my closest friends!"
"Since your confession was so touching just now..." Suddenly, Sylvia picked up the remote control from
the table next to them and pressed a button.
The screen shifted from showing behind-the-scenes footage of the cast members on set to showing
Audrina standing alone in an empty hallway.
She looked around before quickly darting into a corner near an emergency exit where she could peek
out and see everything happening in the hallway without being noticed.
In that moment, Poppy emerged from the elevator and made her way straight to Eden's room. After
spending several minutes inside, she exited once more. Just as Poppy opened Eden's door, Audrina
pulled out her phone and began recording. Poppy was clearly visible as she walked out of Eden's
room. Audrina smiled smugly, having successfully captured everything on video.
"This... this isn't me," Audrina instinctively refuted, taking two steps back in shock as she stared at
herself on the big screen.
"Do you think everyone is blind?" Sylvia threw the remote aside and lazily looked at her. "I've seen so
many so-called good friends like you, pretending to be a good sister on the surface, but secretly
harming their friends. Luckily, there's surveillance in the hallway. I thought it was paparazzi from some
media outlet! It turns out to be you."
"I..."
Audrina turned pale and her heart pounded rapidly for a while before she said, "It really wasn't me. I
accidentally took this video without any intention of posting it online! I just wanted to play a joke on
Poppy."
"The video that was exposed on Twitter showed Poppy wearing a bathrobe, so... I just took some shots
without harming Poppy!"
She tried to bluff her way through but what she had taken didn't match up with what was shown in the
video.
So how could they assume that she had taken photos of Poppy with malicious intent?
"Do you really think I'm stupid?" Sylvia couldn't help laughing at Audrina's foolishness. "Don't I
understand? I'm Jess after all. You took those photos and then Photoshopped them onto Poppy
wearing a bathrobe. Do you really think that I wouldn't notice? Do you think that I am an outsider that
can be fooled by you?"
Audrina froze for a moment; her heart racing with anxiety.
How could Sylvia still be Jess?
What should she do now?
She had only just landed this role in this movie; although it was only as supporting cast member if
something like this were true then Sylvia would definitely kick her off set... and even delete all of her
scenes from the film.
Her heart raced faster but there seemed no better solution right now.
She looked towards Poppy suddenly. "Poppy, forgive me please! It was just my momentary lapse of
judgement - please let bygones be bygones, because we are such good friends, aren't we?"
"I won't ever do anything like this again. Can't we let things go because we're such close roommates?"
Poppy had recovered from shock by now. "I never expected it would be you you... we share one
dormitory room together day-in-day-out – how could you treat me like this?"
Audrina stepped forward and grabbed hold of Poppy's arm; tears streaming down her cheeks which
made people feel sorry for her delicate beauty among others. "Please forgive me – as your sister can't
we move past these mistakes?"
"Poppy, I just made a mistake in the heat of the moment. Everyone makes mistakes. I didn't mean any
harm," she spoke sincerely, her palms sweaty with nervousness.
As long as Poppy agreed, Sylvia wouldn't say anything.
She couldn't afford to lose her role in this movie. Tears welled up in her eyes and her vision blurred, as
she continued speaking before Poppy could respond, "I always help you fetch water and bring you
food. Can't you forgive me for our friendship's sake? I swear I won't make the same mistake again. It
was just a moment of confusion."
"Audrina, I never thought it was you who did this," Poppy said with disbelief evident on her face. "You
have helped me fetch water and bring food before but that doesn't mean much when compared to how
often I've treated everyone to meals every weekend since we became roommates."
Poppy realized that she had been wrong about Audrina's true nature.
Audrina felt embarrassed. She didn't treat Poppy to meals not because she was stingy; she simply
thought that since Poppy came from a wealthy family it wouldn't hurt to treat them all out for full meals
once in a while.
"I..." Audrina began hesitantly.
"Well then, Audrina," Sylvia interrupted lazily while scrolling through her phone screen, "could you
explain where the funds from the fan club went?"
Maskelyne Group valued Poppy's reputation and public image greatly, so they conducted an
investigation quickly, which resulted in sending Franklin's phone directly with their findings.
"Tsk tsk... I can hardly believe it! Marguerite, one of Poppy's fan club administrators, turns out to be
you! You went through so much trouble. Don't tell me it's because you're Poppy's fans." Sylvia raised
an eyebrow coldly as she continued speaking. "And please don't tell me that five thousand dollars
disappeared into thin air."
Audrina slowly let go of Poppy's arm; She looked like someone who had heard something
unbelievable. "Miss Andrews, what are you talking about? You may not like me, but don't pin everything
on me regarding Poppy's fan club buying instant noodles."
"If you used this acting talent in your performances, you would definitely become a star," Sylvia said
with a low laugh as she watched Audrina's natural performance. She couldn't help but want to applaud.
