Chapter 806
Chapter 806
Isabelle didn't know if Darius was telling the truth or not. She didn't know if he was saying such words
just to gain custody of his daughter. The only man she had ever been intimate with in her life was
Darius, and she felt conflicted.
The news of Isabelle's election spread throughout the world. It was almost as if the whole world was
watching. For a country where women had been oppressed for years, this was a significant symbol of
progress and represented a significant improvement in women's status.
The appearance of a female prime minister received support and warm welcome from almost all
women in Middle Evroya.
To celebrate this event, the new president Harold declared Isabelle's election day as Women's Day in
Middle Evroya.
When Sylvia arrived in Middle Evroya, she taught Harold an unforgettable lesson that men should
never underestimate the power of women. Therefore, he never dared to underestimate the power of
women again, especially now that Isabelle has become prime minister; she will be his biggest helper
and partner when it comes to work-related matters.
Harold's first order to all officials under him is that they must respect Isabelle; otherwise they will face
military punishment! He is known for his iron-fisted approach; this command immediately silenced
those who used to look down on Isabelle's election.
In the hospital room, Brayden sat on a couch with a small blanket given by nurses draped over him.
He felt tired but comforted by its warmth while sunlight streamed through windows casting golden rays
across Jenna's bed where she slept peacefully despite her feverish state last night.
Franklin came into view with concern etched on his face before sitting next to Brayden. "You stayed
here overnight yesterday, so go get some rest now," he said reassuringly.
Sylvia walked over and touched Jenna's forehead. "Her fever has subsided."
Brayden looked out at clean bright windows letting gentle sunshine pour into their space making it clear
that morning had come already. The girl lying on bed remained asleep while he wondered how long
he'd been there keeping watch over her.
"It's okay," Brayden replied hoarsely after clearing throat slightly. "I can wait until Jenna wakes up."
Franklin advised him again, but he didn't listen.
Jasper came in carrying a lunchbox and took out the food inside.
"Have a little to eat, otherwise you'll get sick too. Jenna will feel uncomfortable when she wakes up,"
Sylvia said softly. "The doctor said it's a concussion and there's no bleeding inside. We won't know if
there are any other after-effects until she wakes up."
As long as there is no blood stasis, a concussion will usually recover after a few days of rest.
A nurse pushed a medication cart into the room and administered an injection to Jenna before hanging
up her IV bag.
She still hasn't woken up.
Unconsciously, Brayden lay down on the bed.
Seeing how exhausted he looked, Sylvia glanced at Franklin and the three of them quietly left with
Jasper.
He casually closed the door to the hospital room.
Jenna on the sickbed, her eyelids trembled slightly. She seemed to be immersed in a nightmare and
couldn't wake up no matter how hard she tried.
Sweat had unconsciously seeped out from the forehead.
"Sister ... Mom..." The little girl ran on a hill covered with wild grass.
Someone was pursuing her and her mom.
"Child, run!" The mother pushed her behind and used her slender body to block the men in front of
them. Her beautiful face was filled with anxiety as she stared at the several men approaching her, while
shouting desperately at her daughter behind her, "Run! Run quickly!"
"Mom--" The little girl's tears rolled down her cheeks as she watched those men pin her mother to the
ground, punching and kicking her. She saw them tie her up roughly and take her away. The man
leading them was none other than her father, his face twisted into a sinister smile. He slapped her © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
mother hard across the face. "Do you know why I married you? It's because your family is wealthy!"
"Turns out your stingy family kicked you out! You slut!"
She crouched motionlessly in the nearby bushes, afraid to make a sound, her eyes wide with fear as
she covered her mouth. Helplessly, she watched as her father took her mother away, hurling insults as
he walked. "Slut, didn't expect you to be worth something! I'll sell you this time, so you won't be a
nuisance anymore!"
She lay in the grass, staring in disbelief at her father's receding figure as he walked further and further
away. Suddenly, a snake darted out and she jumped in fright, "Ah!"
"No!" Jenna screamed in horror, sitting up abruptly.
Brayden was half asleep when he heard the girl's cry, but it jolted him awake. "Jenna, what's wrong?"
"Brayden," Jenna's voice was hoarse and labored as if she couldn't catch her breath. "I had a
nightmare about my mother."
"Mother?" Brayden sat up straight and took the girl's icy cold hand in his own. He looked at her closely
and saw that her face was covered in beads of sweat that sparkled like diamonds.
She looked even paler than usual.
But wasn't she an orphan?
"I lost all my memories before I turned eight..." Jenna spoke softly. "But now I remember everything. I
had a mother who was very beautiful, and we were out together when our car broke down on the road.
Suddenly some bad guys came out to grab my mother, so she told me to run away while they took
her... I watched helplessly as they dragged her away... then I rolled down the hillside... and passed
out."
"When I woke up again," Jenna continued, "I had lost all memory of myself and wandered aimlessly
into town until Aldo found me."
"Do you remember your mother's name?" Brayden asked incredulously. "Where is your family? Do you
remember anything else?"
If only they could find out more about her past or locate her real mother...
Jenna shook her head slowly."I only remember what she looked like..."
At such a young age back then, Jenna didn't recall much about what name to call for Mama either.
"But you can draw a picture of it," Brayden suggested eagerly."And maybe we can search for clues
together."
"Don't worry, Jenna," he added with concern etched on his face. "We'll definitely find your biological
mom for you!"
Jenna nodded heavily as she gazed into his eyes filled with bruises from last night and newly grown
stubble on his chin."Brayden, you should get some rest now..."
It didn't take much guessing to know that he must have stayed by her side all night long.
"I'm not tired yet."
Although still feeling dizzy herself, Jenna felt warm inside knowing how much this man cared for her.
She smiled faintly at him.
"That man who attacked you has been manipulated by someone else behind the scenes. Don't worry.
We'll soon figure it out." Brayden whispered reassuringly."You won't be bullied without justice being
served."
He was tired, and when he saw Jenna wake up, his strong will suddenly dissipated. His head felt heavy
and drooped down, overcome by drowsiness. He went straight to her bedside to sleep.
Jenna held his hand tightly as he held hers.
Colleagues from the piano association came to visit, as well as Lena and Gracie. They were stopped
by Sylvia and Franklin.
"She has a concussion; she might not wake up for a while."
"Let's not disturb her rest."
Gracie put down the fruit basket in her hands while Lena handed over the flowers to Sylvia.
"It's really regrettable that this happened."
"This is outrageous! We must investigate thoroughly. I've already told my dad; he'll talk to the police
and punish that scumbag severely." Lena was very angry.
Jenna slept through the night but couldn't fall asleep easily because of the voices outside. Her thoughts
drifted far away, constantly recalling her mother's face in her mind.
Suddenly she heard Brayden's voice say softly. "Jenna, here's something for you to eat." She looked at
him but realized he hadn't woken up yet; he was calling out for her in his dreams without knowing what
food to give her.
For some reason, Jenna suppressed fear surfaced in her dream suddenly broke out again along with
last night's man attacking fiercely which caused her tears streaming down uncontrollably from her eyes.
She wiped them away gently, trying not make any sound but eventually lost control completely.
Brayden who had been sleeping was woken up. He sat up abruptly holding onto Jenna tightly asking,
"What happened? Why are you crying?"
Jenna felt extremely depressed emotionally.
She believed that it must have been because of witnessing that terrible scene where she watched
helplessly as men took away her mother.
Every time thinking about how her mother protected her, her heart ached.
She seemed like venting pain buried deep inside.
Sylvia and Franklin stood at the door, wanting go inside see what happened but finally gave up.
"Never mind, let her cry. She was probably scared out of her wits last night. That man was just
despicable," he said.
Little did they know that Jenna was crying because she had remembered her own origins and her
mother.
What made it worse was that the leader of those men seemed to be her father.
That grotesque-looking man would forever haunt Jenna's life as a shadow.
She cried for a long while before finally stopping, feeling somewhat relieved in her heart.
