A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 930: Confrontation

“Alexia, the child just got back. Let her freshen up first! We can talk later,” Benedict said, giving Ranita a meaningful look.

Ranita shook her head slowly, “Mom and Dad, I can explain.”

“Explain? Ranita, do you know how much disgrace you’ve brought to Bowman’s Mansion? Everyone in Steland saw you kissing a man!”

“Are you that impatient?” Chole accused Ranita immediately upon arrival.

Jedidiah wanted to speak up, but Ranita stopped him, “Jedidiah, let me handle this.”

“Sister, you were in charge of the event. I want to know why there was a camera in the lounge connected to the main screen in the banquet hall!” Ranita’s eyes were calm but sharp as she questioned Chole.

“Although I was responsible for the event, the lounge is not my concern. I checked with the hotel; the camera was installed for a wedding the day before and was forgotten to be removed,” Chole explained calmly. “Ranita, you did something disgraceful and now want to blame me?”

“I’m not blaming anyone. I’m just asking a reasonable question,” Ranita replied. “And what about these?”

“This is my blood test report. It shows that my blood contains hydrochloride methoxamine… and other substances found in Dad’s methoxamine capsules,” Ranita continued. “Someone drugged my champagne last night, causing neurological side effects like dizziness and palpitations.”

“Nonsense!” Chole sneered. “Ranita, are you writing a novel? Someone drugged your champagne? Are you accusing me?”

Ranita stared directly at Chole, “I don’t have evidence it was you, but I only drank a little champagne last night.”

“Ranita, have some limits in your explanations! You embarrassed yourself and now want to slander me?” Chole raised an eyebrow, her eyes full of mockery and cold laughter.

Seeing her daughters start to argue, Alexia became anxious, “Why are you two arguing?”Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

“Ranita, admit your mistake. Why drag Chole into this?” Alexia pursed her lips, clearly siding with Chole.

Ranita opened her mouth but couldn’t catch her breath.

She felt miserable.

“Mom, this is my blood test report! I’m not lying!” These reports were sent to her by Brendon on the way here.

She trusted Brendon wouldn’t falsify them.

“Even so, you can’t accuse Chole! She’s your sister; she wouldn’t do such a thing to you!” Alexia’s guilt towards Chole would never disappear, so she naturally sided with her.

Ranita indeed had no evidence that Chole did it.

But she brought this up not to prove it was Chole but to show it wasn’t intentional on her part.

“Mom… that’s not what I mean! I just want to say that what happened last night wasn’t intentional! I felt unwell and nearly fainted when someone dragged me to the lounge.”

“And tried to take advantage of me.”

Ranita took a deep breath, her eyes stinging with tears, her voice choked with emotion, “Brendon showed up in time and beat the person up, scaring them away.”

“A camera, drugs, dragging me to the lounge… so many coincidences? Shouldn’t I suspect it was intentional?”
