Chapter 918: Affection
“Mummy said Uncle Steve is part of Ayaan’s family,” he said sadly. “But Uncle Steve hasn’t called me in a long time.”
“Daddy, can you help me find Uncle Steve?”
Seeing his son’s attachment to Steve Pearson, Brendon felt a twinge of jealousy.
But it was true that Steve had taken care of Ayaan during these years. It was normal for Ayaan to be attached to him!
“Daddy has already asked someone to contact him. If we get in touch, I’ll let you know right away, okay?”
“Okay! Daddy, you’re the best!” Ayaan happily hugged Brendon’s neck and kissed him. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Brendon used to dislike such close contact with children; it felt troublesome to him.
But now, he really liked Ayaan.
Ayaan was his and Ranita’s child, sharing their blood. Just thinking about this made Brendon feel content.
“Now you think Daddy is good? You little rascal!” Brendon picked up the child, and Ayaan immediately giggled, his voice soft and sweet, incredibly adorable.
Brendon stayed at Bowman’s Mansion for lunch.
Jedidiah and Chole were not there, making the atmosphere at the table a bit awkward. Fortunately, Ayaan occasionally amused the elders, otherwise, it would have been hard to eat.
After lunch, Brendon took Ayaan out.
Ayaan felt sleepy after lunch, so Brendon had to take him back to the villa, working while waiting for Ayaan to wake up.
Brendon had planned to take Ayaan to see Ranita in the afternoon, but he suddenly received a call from Caleb Stuart, saying there was a problem with a project in Southeast Asia that required his personal attention.
The Southeast Asia project, concerning the construction of a new port, was one of Stuart’s Corp’s more important projects at the moment.
With a problem arising, Brendon definitely had to go.
He took Ayaan back to Bowman’s Mansion and went to the hospital before heading to the airport.
Ranita was drowsy and vaguely saw a familiar figure approaching. She thought she was dreaming and instinctively reached out to grab his finger, rubbing her cheek against it and softly calling, “Brendon…”
The fingers seemed to stiffen for a moment.
Ranita rarely called him so affectionately.
Brendon leaned in closer and responded in a low voice, “Yes, it’s me.”
Hearing this, Ranita’s foggy mind took a while to process before she groggily asked, “Why are you here?”
“I have an urgent matter and need to go on a business trip.” After a pause, Brendon sighed, “I’m flying out later; I’m sorry I can’t stay to take care of you.”
Ranita blinked, her barely open eyes only seeing the man’s tall figure.
He was wearing a suit, tall and handsome.
Ranita smiled faintly. “Brendon, you look really good in a suit. I like it…”
Her words trailed off as she drifted into sleep, not knowing what else she said.
“Alright… I’ll wear it for you every day.” The man’s low voice echoed in her ears, floating between reality and illusion.
Ranita couldn’t tell if it was real or not.
Soft lips brushed her forehead, tickling her. Ranita squinted at the man before her.
The next second, she reached out and hooked her arm around his neck.
Her dry lips pressed against his in a kiss.
Ranita’s initiative made the temperature seem to rise. Brendon, already reluctant to leave her, now found it even harder to resist.
He wrapped his arms tightly around her, deepening the kiss.
Their dry lips rubbed together until they felt like they were on fire. Ranita hummed in dissatisfaction and lightly bit him.
