Chapter 81
Chapter 81
The man did not answer Reginald. He just shot Liam a look and then rushed out of the hall with his entourage. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
“I’m the one who sent this gift for Celena!”
Liam broke through the murmur, causing all eyes to turn to him.
“You sent this?” Reginald’s voice was laced with disbelief.
His face quickly soured, and he glared at Liam. “Let’s be real! A gift like this comes from someone with deep pockets or a fancy title! We all know who you are. Stop pretending this lavish present is from you.”
The rest of the Stone family chimed in with their own jeers, “He has the nerve to say he sent this gift!”
“Ha ha ha, right! Just wait. He’ll be red-faced in ten days!”
“Poor Celena, saddled with such a dud!”
Then, a woman in her forties called out to Celena with fake concern, Listen, Celena! I’m not trying to be harsh, but we introduced you to so many great guys, and you turned them down! Now, you’re with this. What were you thinking?”
Celena, hearing the mockery and insults, tugged at Liam’s arm. Her eyes brimmed with tears, and she whispered, “Liam, let’s not stay here any longer. Let’s just go…”
Liam seemed ready to argue, but one look at Celena’s face and he bit back his words. Without another word, he scooped up Jovie and held Celena’s chilly hand. He addressed Reginald, “The contract will be
with the Stone family by tomorrow. I trust you’ll keep your end of the deal.”
With that, Liam and Celena made their exit.
The exit of the trio barely made a ripple in the ongoing festivities while the Stone family buzzed around two chests brimming with treasures, eagerly debating who would claim what.
Reginald listened to his relatives’ chatter with a scoff and briskly instructed the butler to secure the gifts.
Celena’s face was etched with worry outside the hotel. Her eyes brimmed with tears as she clutched Liam’s arm, causing them to halt. “Liam, I’m so sorry! They just can’t find it in their hearts to forgive me, and now you’re caught in the middle!”
Liam wrapped his arms around her and said soothingly, “No apologies needed. Their words are just noise to me. And hey, don’t fret. I’ll find a way to bring you back into the Stone family.”
“However, the Walker legacy is up in the air, and we don’t even know who to approach, let alone secure a deal with nothing in our hands!”
She had overheard the rumors. The Drunham City elite were all vying for the project, yet the contract remained elusive.
Liam rested his chin atop Celena’s head, a soft laugh escaping him. Silly girl, don’t worry. I’ve got friends here and beyond. We’ll figure this out. For now, let’s head home, okay?”
Hope flickered in Celena’s eyes as she stepped back to look up at him. “Really?” she asked.
Liam gave a warm nod and smile, then ushered Celena and Jovie back to the Jade Manor.
As soon as they entered, Celena, with a puzzled look, tugged at Liam’s sleeve. “Liam, does the fall of the Walker family have anything to do with you? I heard that Clora is dead too!”
