Chapter 254
S21 84. Dangerous Moves
Frank shook his head. “No, I won’t do anything wrong. Just sit. Look at the beautiful view.” He glanced inside for a moment, before looking back at Kara, “Talking.”
“Are you sure that’s enough?” Kara laughed faintly. Her voice tickled Frank’s heart.
“Please don’t provoke me, Queen Bee. Right now, this is enough, as long as you don’t make any moves.”
Kara narrowed her eyes. “It wasn’t me. You’re the one who always makes dangerous moves, like this.” She caught Frank’s naughty fingers.
“You said no provoking, Frank.” Her eyes widened in warning.
Frank’s laughter got louder. “I just want to fix the collar of your blouse. Isn’t that allowed?”
“Remember the border, Frank. The twins are in the next room.”
“Take it easy, Kara. If I wanted to cross the line, I would have asked you to hide. Where this time? Behind that big jar?”
Kara sighed in resignation, shaking her head at her husband’s sen of humor. “That’s not a good idea, Frank. I’d rather be under the tabl
Frank’s laughter grew louder. Then, caressing Kara’s face, he took deep breath.
“I can’t imagine my life without you. Maybe, I’m still a boring workaholic.”
“And grumpy? Annoying? Fierce?” Kara smiled.
Frank cocked his head. “I told you, don’t provoke me.” His hands
suddenly tickled Kara.
In an instant, her laughter escaped. While trying to catch Frank’s hand, she said, “What’s wrong with that? It’s called reality. I’m talking facts.”
Feeling amused, Frank blew on Kara’s neck like a child making
bubbles in a swimming pool. He no longer realized that their intimacy had become a spectacle.
“Oh, look. Daddy and Mommy are having fun without us,” Louis grumbled as he lowered his toy sword. The crown on his head was slightly tilted, making him look like a prince who was jealous of seeing his princess snatched by someone else.
Emily giggled. “Stop watching Daddy, Louis. Nora said, we have to give Daddy and Mommy lots of time if we want to get little sibling quickly.”
Louis’ eyes suddenly widened. “Is it true?”
Emily nodded confidently. “Yes!”
Then, while adjusting Louis’ crown, she whispered, “Don’t be sad anymore, okay? Even though Mommy loves Daddy, that doesn’t mean Mommy doesn’t love us. That’s what Grandma said.”
Susan spontaneously raised her eyebrows. Her heart tingled. The
others were also smiling amusedly, proud of the twins.
However, when Susan remembered that Melanie was in another place, the curve of her lips slowly faded.
“Poor her. She should be here, having fun with her children and grandchildren. She must be lonely in that place.”
Meanwhile, in the rehabilitation center, a woman with high heels was walking through the cold hallway. In front of a door, she stopped.
“How is Mrs. Harris?”
The officer beside her whispered, “She’s under control.” Then, he opened the lock.
The visitor entered alone. Her expression was flat when she saw Melanie sitting facing the window, humming while shaking her body slightly. When the door was closed again, she said, “Good morning, Mrs. Harris.”
Melanie stopped moving her body. She turned her head then smiled at her guest.
“You finally come.” After straightening her back, Melanie pointed at another chair with all five fingers. “Please have a seat. I can’t wait to make a confession video. My daughter-in-law has encouraged Frank to send me here, even though I’m not crazy at all.”
The visitor glanced at the chair that Melanie was pointing at. After one blink, she snorted faintly. “You know what happened out there?”
Melanie raised an eyebrow, smiling with confidence. “The public must be excited. The top businessman they admire turns out to be a son who abandoned his mother. Frank must be confused about finding a solution. He has no more reason to keep that woman. So, your wish, will soon come true and I can receive my payment.”
“You think so?”
Melanie let out a laugh. “Yes, Frank will definitely regret making his wife his priority. That’s good. The more desperate he feels, the more influence my confession video will have on him. He won’t dare to contradict my words and then he won’t mind being side by side with you. We both win.”
The visitor folded her arms in front of her chest. Her chin was slightly raised so that her eyes looked dismissive. “You are a very confident
figure, apparently.”
Melanie’s smile faded. She realized there was something wrong with their plan. “What do you mean?”
“The public’s anger has subsided. They know you left him. They admire Frank even more for being wise in placing you here.”
Melanie’s lips curved downwards. Her chin twitched in anger. ” Impossible.”
“That’s the reality. We miscalculated. Therefore, with a heavy heart, I cannot continue our cooperation.”
Melanie suddenly stood up. Her round eyes started to turn red. “Don’t be kidding. Come on, take out your camera. We can still turn things around.”
A quick sigh escaped the visitor. “I’ve changed my mind. You’re no help at all and you can’t be saved. Your power isn’t as great as I thought.”
Melanie walked quickly and stopped right in front of the woman’s eyes. “Don’t mess with me. You promised to help me if I help you.”
“Your help is useless. What else can we do?” The woman shrugged
her shoulders.
Melanie started to clench her jaw. Her hand trembled. “Then, get me out of here. Let me show you how wrong what you said was.”
“Sorry, Mrs. Harris. I’m no longer interested. So, behave yourself. If your progress is good, you might be allowed to leave this place.”
“What are you doing? You dare to play with me?”
A faint laugh echoed. “I never play around, Madam. Precisely because I’m serious, I don’t want someone as incompetent as you to interfere in my affairs.”
“On what basis are you calling me incompetent?”
“If you were competent, you should have managed to win Frank’s attention without my help. You wouldn’t have called me the night before you were dragged here.”
“You were the one who offered to cooperate with me!”
The woman with the round hat pointed her finger. “Yes, but that was months ago and you refused, remember? You said the inheritance you would receive was much more valuable than my offer. Only recently did you ask me for a second chance. I’ve been kind, but it turns out you failed me. You failed in your duty.”
“I didn’t fail. You were the one who failed to process the news! Don’t put the blame on me. Now get me out of here!” Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
“No, Mrs. Harris. Just accept your bad luck. Forget your obsession and don’t ever mention me. You don’t want to end up more miserable, right?”
Suddenly, the door opened. Two officers came in, grabbed Melanie by the arms and dragged her to the bed
“What else is this? Let go of me! That’s the woman you’re supposed to be looking after here. She’s the one who asked me to pretend to be crazy. She’s obsessed with my son!”
However, the mysterious woman stepped back. When she had
passed the door, she waved her hand and disappeared. Melanie could only screech at her.
“How is it, Madam? What is our next step?” A man in a suit asked the woman in high heels.
“Tell the officers to give her an injection every time someone visits.”
“You want to make her really go crazy?”
The corners of her lips lifted cynically. “You feel sorry for her?”
The man looked down. “No, Madam. So, are there any other orders?” “Have you got any information about Diana Johnson?”
The man nodded. “Yes, Madam. She runs a horse farm in K City. She always visits the nearby orphanage in her free time.”
“When do they plan to meet her?”
“They booked tickets for the end of December.”
The woman widened her smile. “Good. Let’s get there before they arrive.”
“Sorry, Madam. When exactly?”
“Today.”
